POSITION OVERVIEW:

Manages, directs, and coordinates all activities associated with the transportation of products and goods. Major focus on heavy haul, permit loads for delivery of finished goods to job sites, as well as oversize ocean freight for international projects.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages , trains, and develops Logistics Department and staff to ensure department stays abreast of regulatory and technological changes within the industry.
  • Develops and manages all aspects of the procurement and delivery of services for the movement of materials, and supplies.
  • Maintain procedures and ensure full compliance of the regulations governing the movement of goods.
  • Management of transportation including knowledge of and adherence to safety, DOE, OSHA, State and DOT regulations.
  • Prepares shipping documents (commercial invoice, packing lists)
  • Leads logistics sourcing teams in the development of customer’s shipping import/export requirements
  • Responsible for TMS utilization and development to maximize use of technology and reduce manual labor.
  • Organizes and uploads all project documentation to shared drive.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Verifies carrier invoices and addresses discrepancies.
  • Maintain and publish departmental KPIs.
  • Oversees TAS truck fleet day to day operations to insure maximum utilization of assets.
  • Develops transportation and packing pricing for project proposals, negotiates pricing with suppliers.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining project budgets.  To communicate to Project Management regularly on project performance
  • Ensures compliance with government regulations and corporate policies and procedures for purchasing/subcontract activities.
  • Works closely with project teams to plan, quote, and execute project logistics strategies.
  • Insure on-time delivery of finished goods to project sites.
  • Ensure all project stakeholders are fully informed of delivery progress and status until products are received at the project job site.
  • Monitor and track the global movement of goods based on customer contractual requirements to verify order fulfillment. Prepares required reports; provides detailed analysis of logistics services to project stakeholders.
  • Maintains vendor evaluation program and reports on on-time delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Develops strategic vision and road map for all logistics functions.  Documents requirements and works with IT consultants for traffic management information system software.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

JOB SKILLS:

  • Ability to manage track National and International shipments.
  • Ability to manage and develop a staff of six to twenty people.
  • Interpret complex laws, regulations, and/or policies.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information.
  • Understand and respond to a diverse population.
  • Ability to interpret and negotiate contracts.
  • Excellent math skills.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • B.A./B.S, C.P.M. or C.P.I.M. certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of INCO terms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Well versed in managing heavy haul, permit loads.
  • International shipping experience
  • Packing services experience
  • TMS system experience
  • Six plus years management related experience.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions.  Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading.  The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
