What You Will Be Doing

As the Project Controls Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of our Industrial construction projects. You will be responsible for managing project budgets, labor hours, materials, and rental equipment, as well as overseeing cost control, planning, and scheduling activities. To excel in this role, you should have a strong accounting background, excellent relationship-building skills with both executive leadership and field staff, and a deep understanding of project controls in the construction industry.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Develop and maintain project controls systems, processes, and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient management of project budgets, labor hours, materials, and rental equipment.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to establish project control strategies and goals aligned with the company’s overall objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, project managers, department managers, and field staff.
  • Provide guidance and direction to project teams on cost control, planning, and scheduling matters, ensuring adherence to established standards and best practices.
  • Utilize accounting and scheduling software, including Primavera, Microsoft Office, and Sage Timberline, to manage and track project costs, schedules, and progress.
  • Conduct regular analysis and reporting of project financial performance, including variance analysis, cost forecasting, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate and comprehensive project schedules, incorporating all necessary activities, dependencies, and resource allocations.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of data between different systems and software used for project controls, including accounting, scheduling, and reporting tools.
  • Provide training and mentorship to project teams on project controls processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in project controls methodologies and technologies, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Other Essential Functions

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Construction Management) is required.
  • Five (5) years or more of relevant Cost Control, Planning & Scheduling experience in Home Office or Field Office, including experience in training and directing others. Alternatively, ten (10) years or more of relevant Cost Control or Planning & Scheduling experience.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls principles and methodologies, with a focus on cost control, planning, and scheduling in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in utilizing accounting and scheduling software, such as Primavera, Microsoft Office, and Sage Timberline, to manage project controls activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, fostering cooperation and problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with the Industrial construction sector, specifically in Chemical, Pulp & Paper, and Heavy Industrial projects, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction in all aspects of project controls management.
