Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in HVAC systems, your role will be to design, develop, and oversee the implementation of mechanical systems and components, with a focus on HVAC systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, optimizing energy usage, and maintaining appropriate environmental conditions for manufacturing processes. Your focus will be on designing mechanical systems, conducting feasibility studies, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- HVAC System Design and Engineering: Design and engineer mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Develop specifications, equipment layouts, and system designs that meet the specific requirements of the manufacturing processes and environmental conditions.
- System Implementation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems in manufacturing environments. Collaborate with construction teams and contractors to ensure proper installation, adherence to design specifications, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve HVAC system issues that may arise during the manufacturing facility. Conduct root cause analysis, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and optimize system performance. Establish preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and longevity of these systems.
- Energy Optimization and Sustainability: Analyze and optimize energy usage of HVAC systems within the design process. Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements, such as system upgrades, controls optimization, and utilization of renewable energy sources. Develop strategies to enhance sustainability and reduce environmental impact.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, and operations, to provide HVAC engineering support for manufacturing projects. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, provide technical guidance, and ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with HVAC codes, regulations, and safety standards. Conduct safety assessments, inspections, and audits to maintain a safe working environment and mitigate potential hazards associated with HVAC systems.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare accurate and comprehensive technical documentation, including HVAC mechanical system designs, specifications, drawings, and reports. Maintain organized records of engineering activities, testing procedures, and maintenance schedules related to HVAC mechanical systems.
- Continuous Learning and Development: Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in HVAC systems for manufacturing applications. Seek professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering practices and system design principles.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or eligibility for licensure.
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on HVAC systems, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of HVAC and mechanical system design principles, equipment selection, and load calculations.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with mechanical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Experience in troubleshooting HVAC systems and conducting root cause analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on emerging technologies and advancements in HVAC systems for manufacturing applications.
