Position Overview:
As a Power Systems Engineer / Electrical Engineer (Professional Engineer) with our firm, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power systems for a wide range of projects. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable functioning of electrical infrastructure, while adhering to industry standards and best practices. This position is 100% on-site and based in Minneapolis.
Key Responsibilities:

Power Systems Design: Collaborate with the project team to design electrical power systems for various commercial, industrial, and residential projects. This includes electrical distribution, lighting, motor control, and emergency power systems.

Technical Analysis: Perform detailed electrical load calculations, fault studies, and coordination studies to ensure optimal performance and protection of power systems.

Professional Engineering: As a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), take responsibility for stamping and sealing electrical designs and specifications to comply with local codes and regulations.

Project Management: Oversee the execution of electrical projects on-site, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and safety protocols.

Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Provide technical expertise in diagnosing and resolving electrical issues, troubleshooting complex systems, and recommending effective solutions.

Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections of electrical installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Coordination and Communication: Collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless project coordination and timely updates.

Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in electrical engineering and power systems, incorporating innovative technologies into project designs and approaches.

Safety and Compliance: Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all on-site activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in the state of Minnesota.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on power systems design and implementation.
- Thorough understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Proficiency in electrical design software, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities, with an attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear collaboration with teams and clients.
