Regional Controller Job Description

Overview:



The Regional Controller is a key financial leader within our organization, responsible for providing financial analysis and support to the Regional Vice President and Corporate Leadership. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, compliance with accounting policies, and facilitating external audits. The Regional Controller also plays a vital role in financial due diligence and integration for acquisitions. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in accounting and significant industry experience.

Position Description:



The Regional Controller reports to the Chief Accounting Officer but collaborates closely with the Regional Vice President and other Regional Team Members. This position requires a flexible and adaptable individual who can thrive in a decentralized environment, with an emphasis on mentoring and influencing rather than strict command and control.

Principal Responsibilities:

Financial Oversight of Operating Companies:

• Review monthly financial statements submitted by operating companies, including balance sheets, income statements, construction WIP schedules, and other financial data in OneStream.
• Communicate monthly financial results to corporate leadership through financial review calls and summarized reporting.
• Attend quarterly cost-to-complete meetings at operating companies.
• Review quarterly forecasts and annual budget packages.
• Provide financial information and analysis to assist in filing quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Participate in the hiring process of financial personnel at operating companies.
• Understand and support the monthly close process for each operating company.
• Assist operating companies when controllers are unavailable due to departures or short-term leaves.
• Provide financial analysis and information to support the Regional Vice President and Corporate Leadership in understanding operating companies’ financial reports and processes.
• Offer support and guidance during accounting software conversions and various financial systems implementations.

External Audit Liaison:

• Provide quarterly information to external auditors regarding financial results, variations, and project performance for operating companies.
• Coordinate other audit-related requests for the annual audit.

Financial Due Diligence and Integration for Acquisitions:

• Assist in financial due diligence for both standalone and bolt-on acquisitions in the region.
• Lead financial integration efforts for standalone acquisitions and assist operating companies with the integration of bolt-on acquisitions.

Desired Qualifications:



The ideal candidate for the Regional Controller role should possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and have accumulated 10+ years of experience in the construction or manufacturing industry.

Working Conditions:



The Regional Controller will be expected to travel approximately 40% to 60% of their time as necessary to visit company subsidiaries or attend corporate meetings. Periodic weekend or evening work may be required.
