Job functions and duties (other duties may be assigned)
- Equipment retrofit and repair. Work without supervision to complete necessary services. Coordinate resources for project completion. Supervisory responsibility for a team of 2-3 newer technicians/apprentices.

Additional responsibilities
- Responsible for servicing all HVAC/Hydronic products and equipment up to approximately 1,000 tons (including all ancillary equipment) on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Understanding of Hydronic piping systems, design and balance.
- Uses a variety of hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
- Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications.
- Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work as necessary.
- Maintains vehicles by keeping records of service manuals, scheduling, and complete repairs and maintenance service. Performs vehicle maintenance, as necessary.
- Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact.
- Honestly provides sales leads/opportunities as needs arise.
- Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
- Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration. Maintains files and turns in all paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
- Keeps current on all products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service and repair. Open to additional learning/training opportunities.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning
- Five to ten years related experience and/or training.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills
- Ability to comprehend simple written and vocal instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- EPA 608 certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Plumbing license is a bonus

This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and in possible extreme weather conditions.
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment.
- The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage) and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Work Availability and Requirements
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Local travel requirements with occasional overnight travel.
