Role Overview:

As a Sales Engineer, you will be a key player in our Construction division at our Richmond headquarters. You will handle multi-million dollar mechanical engineering projects, shaping the City of Richmond.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to identify opportunities and build forecasts.
  • Qualify project opportunities and understand scope, risk, market plans, timelines, and awards.
  • Develop and communicate clear project scopes to internal teams.
  • Prepare proposals and presentations for customer interviews.
  • Act as a liaison for our Contractors.
  • Develop project sales strategies for market success.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Review plans and specifications to understand the scope of work.
  • Build high-level budgets for project opportunities.
  • Adhere to all company safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction, or Construction Engineering Management preferred.
  • Business development experience with general contractors.
  • Strong technical and mechanical knowledge of HVAC, ductwork, plumbing, and piping systems.
  • Excellent client management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for cost estimating and engineering functions.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning, accounting, cost forecasting, resource allocation, and coordination.
  • Understanding of building materials, engineering standards, and codes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and interpreting computerized cost data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and business decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.
