Role Overview:
As a Sales Engineer, you will be a key player in our Construction division at our Richmond headquarters. You will handle multi-million dollar mechanical engineering projects, shaping the City of Richmond.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to identify opportunities and build forecasts.
- Qualify project opportunities and understand scope, risk, market plans, timelines, and awards.
- Develop and communicate clear project scopes to internal teams.
- Prepare proposals and presentations for customer interviews.
- Act as a liaison for our Contractors.
- Develop project sales strategies for market success.
- Build strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Review plans and specifications to understand the scope of work.
- Build high-level budgets for project opportunities.
- Adhere to all company safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction, or Construction Engineering Management preferred.
- Business development experience with general contractors.
- Strong technical and mechanical knowledge of HVAC, ductwork, plumbing, and piping systems.
- Excellent client management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for cost estimating and engineering functions.
- Knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning, accounting, cost forecasting, resource allocation, and coordination.
- Understanding of building materials, engineering standards, and codes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and interpreting computerized cost data.
- Strong problem-solving skills and business decision-making abilities.
- Ability to travel as necessary.
