The Commercial HVAC Service Manager oversees the HVAC service department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality service to commercial clients. This role includes managing a team of HVAC technicians, coordinating service schedules, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with company standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of HVAC technicians and support staff.
    • Ensure all technicians are trained, certified, and up-to-date with industry standards and regulations.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and develop improvement plans as needed.
    • Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
    • Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of HVAC technicians for service calls and projects.
    • Monitor work progress to ensure timely completion of all service activities.
    • Manage the inventory of tools, equipment, and materials needed for service jobs.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial clients, addressing their needs and concerns promptly.
    • Handle escalated customer service issues, providing solutions and ensuring client satisfaction.
    • Provide clients with regular updates on project progress, costs, and any potential issues.
  • Financial Management:
    • Prepare and manage the service department budget, monitoring expenses and controlling costs.
    • Review and approve invoices, work orders, and other financial documents related to service activities.
    • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the service department.
    • Implement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development among the team.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certifications:
    • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
    • EPA Universal Certification required.
    • Additional HVAC certifications (e.g., NATE, OSHA) are highly desirable.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
    • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
    • Proven experience in managing a team and overseeing complex projects.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in using HVAC-related software, Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM systems.
    • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with frequent visits to job sites and customer locations.
  • Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and mechanical rooms.
