Industrial Piping Superintendent – Traveling
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Piping Superintendent with a strong emphasis on mechanical piping systems for industrial projects. This role involves providing leadership, supervision, and support on-site to ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing piping operations in sectors like Pulp & Paper, Chemical, and Heavy Industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead piping crews and supervise daily work activities, ensuring all piping systems are installed according to project specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate mechanical and piping designs, ensuring the project’s constructability.
- Manage relationships with clients, engineers, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met, while maintaining quality standards.
- Construction Cost Management: Oversee project budgets, control costs, and manage change orders efficiently.
- Provide direct supervision to foremen and ensure that piping work is executed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Develop construction plans, review piping drawings, and ensure material take-offs and requisitions are accurately prepared.
- Proactively identify potential issues and develop solutions to ensure smooth project progress.
- Maintain continuous communication with stakeholders, providing updates on project timelines and resolving any site challenges.
Essential Skills:
- Mechanical Piping Expertise: Strong knowledge of industrial piping systems, including design, installation, and maintenance.
- Industrial Project Experience: Expertise in managing projects in Pulp & Paper, Chemical, and Heavy Industrial environments.
- Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of direct hire craft resources and subcontractors.
- Cost Management & Efficiency: Experience in managing construction costs, bidding, subcontractor coordination, and workforce allocation.
- Technical Expertise: Ability to read and interpret piping specifications, blueprints, and construction schedules.
- Safety & Compliance: Familiarity with OSHA regulations, particularly OSHA 10 & 30 certifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in industrial piping construction with a strong focus on mechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with proficiency in project management software.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Certifications:
- OSHA 10 & 30
- PMP Certification (preferred but not required)
