Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will work as the right-hand to the Director of Engineering, playing a critical role in supporting engineering and design efforts for bids, proposals, and estimate requests. This role involves collaborating on design/build and design/assist projects, ensuring efficient project delivery while meeting client needs. The Electrical Engineer will help develop labor and cost estimates, contribute to project design, mentor junior engineers and BIM staff, and maintain client interactions. Additionally, this individual is responsible for upholding Starr Electric Company’s professional image.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to design, estimate, and construct projects efficiently.
• Work closely with relevant teams to ensure designs optimize field construction efficiency.
• Develop methods and procedures to standardize company engineering and design efforts.
• Prepare electrical system specifications and technical/permit drawings, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Perform detailed calculations for construction, manufacturing, or installation standards and specifications.
• Ensure adherence to SEC design and BIM standards on all assigned projects.
• Oversee installation, construction, and maintenance activities, ensuring alignment with specifications, codes, and customer needs.
• Assist in streamlining engineering department processes with other company departments to enhance project delivery and field constructability.
• Maintain a working knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
• Assist with pre-bid efforts, including attending meetings and providing estimates, conceptual designs, and supporting the preconstruction department.
• Engage in business development activities, contributing to project acquisition and client relationships.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and drafting/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit).
• Experience with electrical engineering software (SKM) and lighting design tools (Visual).
• Strong written communication skills for internal and external correspondence.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license with the ability to become licensed in additional states.
• Familiarity with electrical installation and field knowledge (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in consulting engineering or construction
