Construction Accountant

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to manage the financial aspects of a construction project in Monks Corner, SC.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction accounting, proficient in cost tracking, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, onsite environment and is committed to ensuring the financial success of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Tracking: Monitor and record all project expenses, including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs, ensuring accurate cost tracking.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to project managers and senior management, focusing on key financial metrics and variances.
• Compliance: Ensure all financial activities adhere to company policies and comply with relevant regulations.
• Billing: Work within the ERP system to produce, review and provide support for the monthly billing. Update the schedule of values accordingly
• Payroll Management: Oversee payroll for onsite construction staff, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the corporate payroll department.
• Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of project financial audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
• Procurement: Write and manage purchase orders in coordination with the procurement department.
• Change Orders: Maintain and update the change order logs to reflect project changes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and team members to ensure financial transparency and project success.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate Degree in Accounting or a related field preferred. A minimum of three years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in construction accounting.

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., COINS, Sage 300) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of time tracking systems like Smart Barrel is a plus.
• Strong understanding of construction financial management and cost control principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
