Position Overview:
The Sales Manager is responsible for developing sales channels and growing orders for modular engineered products in mission-critical and other markets. This role involves strategic sales planning, relationship management, and market expansion to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and close sales opportunities by engaging with major accounts in a defined geographic region or business segment.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with potential customers and partners to enhance business opportunities.
- Achieve assigned segment orders, sales, and margin goals for the designated regions and business segments.
- Manage sales opportunities through the sales process, working closely with inside support personnel to meet planned objectives.
- Develop and execute a strategic annual business plan, including sales forecasting and market potential analysis for existing and future products.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Applications Engineering teams to provide optimal solution architecture for customer needs.
- Lead bid preparation and act as proposal manager for key sales opportunities.
- Work with Engineering and senior leadership to develop new products and capabilities in response to market trends and customer demands.
- Maintain relationships with key management personnel within customer organizations to ensure ongoing engagement and satisfaction.
- Provide regular updates to management on sales activities and progress toward goals.
- Oversee projects associated with new account development and expansion.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven leadership skills with a strong track record in sales success.
- In-depth knowledge of mission-critical markets and modular build solutions.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills to engage clients and drive sales.
- Ability to work independently while thriving in a matrixed organizational structure.
- Strong negotiation and closing techniques demonstrated through past sales success.
- Understanding of contract terms, project planning, and execution methodologies.
- Experience in relationship management within Fortune 500-type organizations.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support business sales objectives.
Education & Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Military leadership experience or 10+ years of relevant industry experience may substitute for an engineering degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in engineered product or manufacturing sales.
- Background in engineering or project management with sales-oriented career goals.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in implementing sales strategies for industrial and manufacturing environments.
