Senior Project Accountant (Construction Industry)

�� Location: Nashua, NH | �� Salary: $80,000 – $100,000

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Accountant with expertise in job costing to manage project financials, cost tracking, and budget performance in the construction industry. This role ensures accurate job cost reporting, cost allocations, and financial compliance while working closely with project managers, superintendents, and leadership to optimize project profitability.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Job Costing & Financial Management

  • Oversee job cost reporting, ensuring accurate tracking of labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead.
  • Reconcile job cost reports and analyze budget variances, cost overruns, and profitability trends.
  • Assist with monthly financial close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Support forecasting and financial planning by analyzing cost trends and margins.

✅ Billing, Compliance & Collections

  • Process progress billings, cost-plus invoices, and T&M billings, ensuring contract compliance.
  • Manage cash application and collections, resolving billing issues and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Verify subcontractor pay applications, lien waivers, and compliance documents.

✅ Reporting & Collaboration

  • Prepare job cost reports, analyzing financial performance and project efficiency.
  • Utilize ERP systems (Foundation preferred), Procure, Ariba, or Textura for cost tracking and invoice management.
  • Ensure GAAP and industry compliance, supporting audits as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in construction accounting with a focus on job costing.
  • Strong knowledge of AIA billing, cost-plus, and lump sum contracts.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Foundation preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
