Job Summary:

We’re seeking a Level 1 Controls Technician to assist in the installation, commissioning, and servicing of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls. This is a hands-on, entry-level position ideal for individuals with a technical mindset and a desire to grow in the controls or HVAC industry.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in installing BAS components such as controllers, sensors, actuators, and other field devices.

  • Perform low-voltage wiring, device terminations, and labeling based on project documentation.

  • Support system startup and commissioning, including point-to-point checks and basic testing.

  • Use tools like multimeters and handheld devices to verify system operation.

  • Interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings and schematics.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including redlines and field notes.

  • Work with senior technicians, electricians, and project managers to ensure timely project delivery.

  • Follow safety protocols and job site procedures at all times.

  • Participate in ongoing training on HVAC systems, DDC programming, and platforms such as Niagara, Honeywell, Tridium, or Johnson Controls.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (technical coursework in HVAC, electronics, or controls preferred)

  • 0–2 years of experience in building automation, HVAC, electrical work, or related trades

  • Ability to use hand tools and basic test equipment

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and team-oriented attitude

  • Willingness to learn and grow in a technical field

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


Working Conditions:

  • Active construction sites and commercial buildings

  • Regular ladder use, lifting, and confined-space work

  • Local travel to various job sites
