Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Onsite Quality Control (QC) Coordinator to support the execution of high-quality mechanical construction, installation, and commissioning activities. This role is responsible for inspecting materials and systems, verifying welding and installation procedures, maintaining turnover documentation, and coordinating with commissioning teams to ensure project delivery meets all technical and quality standards. This is a key field-based position requiring a strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, mechanical systems, welding documentation, equipment testing, and commissioning workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance (QA):
- Review and interpret job specifications, drawings (P&IDs, flow diagrams), and approved submittals related to quality scopes.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the project-specific Quality Control Plan (QCP).
- Understand system turnover package (TOP) requirements and maintain organized book systems in both hard and digital formats.
- Communicate with subcontractors to coordinate electrical and controls terminations for mechanical equipment.
- Gain access and retrieve documents from FTP/cloud-based file sharing platforms
- Perform receiving inspections of mechanical materials and equipment; maintain receiving logs and verify compliance with submittals.
- Confirm proper storage and handling of major equipment to avoid damage or deterioration prior to installation.
- Verify and document all welding activities, including WPS, PQR, WPQ, weld logs, travelers, and welder stamps.
- Oversee mechanical installation processes and inspect system layouts against P&IDs and drawings.
- Witness mechanical system tests: hydrostatic, pneumatic pressure, duct leakage, hi-pot megger, grounding, torque testing, etc.
- Verify execution of standard installation checklists and participate in punch list and rolling completion walkdowns.
- Maintain an active Non-Conformance Report (NCR) log and support corrective actions.
- Coordinate with general contractors and commissioning groups to maintain up-to-date TOP documentation.
Cx Level 1-5 Responsibilities:
- Witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate pipe flushing, cleaning, and disinfecting with approved vendors; document results and support accordingly.
- Assist with equipment start-up scheduling, ensuring utility readiness (electrical, mechanical, controls).
- Confirm BMS point-to-point checkout and sequence of operations (SOO) are completed.
- Support vendor coordination for system verification, SOP/EOP alignment, and equipment redundancy and automation testing.
- Participate in utility disruption tests, integrated commissioning activities, and system performance validation.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is desirable.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical QC/QA roles within industrial or EPC construction environments.
- Hands-on or on-the-job training will be provided as needed; continued education encouraged.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, schematics, and flow diagrams.
- Familiarity with industry-standard testing equipment and QA tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, BIM tools, Gmail, and cloud-based file management systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Professional, proactive, and open-minded, with a drive for continuous improvement.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules and perform after-hours testing when needed.
